I'm not really sure why I'm so drawn to piers and boardwalks.
Is it the scenery that expands before them?
Or is it the soothing crashing of waves that fills my ears?
I used to have this irrational fear of falling. Falling into the water, into the sea - into any water body, really - because I can't swim. Piers and boardwalks seem like the perfect mediums for such a catastrophe to happen, don't they? A slight misstep and oops, down you go into the threatening waters never to be seen or heard from ever again. But something stirs within me when I'm perched on piers and boardwalks. Suddenly my worries seem to vanish along with the spray of the sea, and I have never felt happier and more carefree in what seems like forever.
If you are lucky, you will manage to spot a seagull or two (at least, in Singapore) and admire the vast horizon that lays beyond. How is it that such a magnificent sight happens daily before us, and yet we spend so little time appreciating such geographical wonders?
It is when you realise that the world is so, so incredibly large and you are just one tiny human.

Situated in the sunny island of Singapore, Jolene recently (is 2 years considered recent?) graduated from university and is now working in a job she never expected herself to hold. Besides having frequent quarter-life crises, she also indulges in video games, anime, and aesthetic korean girls documenting their life in vlogs.
Although not as eloquent with words, she still aims to try her best to bring across her thoughts to the Internet.
